Ukuu v17.1

Ukuu v17.1 is now available.

An option has been added to the settings window to update GRUB so that the GRUB menu is displayed for 2 seconds at boot time. This will help to recover from a bad kernel update by selecting another kernel to boot. When the GRUB menu is displayed, use the menu option Advanced options for Ubuntu to select another kernel and boot from it. After booting successfully, use Ukuu to remove the new kernel that is causing problems.

Ubuntu and derivatives (Ubuntu, Linux Mint, etc)

Packages are available in the Launchpad PPA for supported Ubuntu releases.
Run the following commands in a terminal window:

sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:teejee2008/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ukuu

You do not wish to add the PPA, you can download and install from the DEB files linked below:
ukuu-latest-i386.deb (32-bit)
ukuu-latest-amd64.deb (64-bit)

  1. Any way you could possibly add a textbox for the user to be able to set the number of seconds to display the GRUB menu? Thanks for the update!

  2. Is it possible to add an option to remove multiple older kernels in one step? (Allow multiple items to be selected in the kernel list when you click on the "Remove" button)

  3. could you add checksum check or save files as .part.
like in my case the download was interrupted but files were saved as .deb
    So the installation was failing.
I had to manually delete all the deb files in amd64 folder.
re-run the install which then downloaded the files again and then the installation was successful.
