What's New

New Properties Window

The properties window was updated with new tabs for filesystem info, media info, and permissions.

The General tab displays basic file properties. The Modified and Access time can be updated by clicking the "Touch" link. Owner and Group can be changed by selecting from dropdowns (can be changed only by root).

For directories the changes for Modified time, Access time, Owner and Group can be applied recursively to all files and subdirectories using the "All" link and by clicking the buttons next to the Owner/Group dropdowns.

The Filesystem tab displays info for the device that the selected file is stored on.

The MediaInfo tab displays properties for Image, Audio and Video files. EXIF tags (such as camera model, exposure, ISO, etc) will be displayed for photos. Information is provided by MediaInfo and exiftool.

The Permissions tab displays current permissions and allows permissions to be changed by selecting the checkboxes.

Middle Toolbar

A middle toolbar was added with actions for copying or moving selected files to the opposite pane.

  3. Ran into this today:

When I try viewing a folder with 3,549 pictures, Polo crashes and closes. If there is a way to get any log output, let me know and I'll post it for you.

    1. I'm aware of this issue. The code for generating thumbnails sometimes causes the application to crash randomly. This will be fixed in next beta.

  4. You mentioned that Drag & Drop is in pending, but figured I would mention if I try to drag and drop a tab in one pane to the other pane, Polo crashes. Just wanted to make sure you knew.

  6. Hi! I just saw this and I must say it looks fantastic. I love how much information can be displayed at any one time while still looking elegant, and having text under icons in the toolbar is great! Way to few programs support that. :) Will probably donate for this, once I get the time to redo my system. :)

  7. The file manager is one of the main reasons i can't switch to linux, so i got excited when i heard about this.

Here are some suggestions i made for the dolphin file manager https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=138648

Another feature that most linux file managers don't have is the ability to remember the view mode for each directory.
